Facades are fascinating, especially on churches. They always catch your attention. This is San Michele. There are thousands of columns, all made of white, green and pink marble.

This is Saint Michael killing a serpent.

This is one of the columns.
This is a frieze on top of the door to San Michele. On it there is a dragon, a centaur and a two-tailed merman.
This is San Frediano. The mosaic is of Jesus Christ.
This is another little church which I don't know the name of.

Love the columns especially - can you imagine the guy chiselling away, worrying if the whole thing is going to crack?
It's even fancier than the Ayuntamiento in Sevilla.

I wonder how difficult it might be to swim with two tails? Maybe the mermen really wanted legs.
