Boats in Venice

Canals are the roads of Venice.
On the canals there are boats instead of cars, taxis, buses, fire engines, amambulances and police cars.
Vaporettoes are buses, gondolas are carriages, speedboats are ambulances, fire engines, police cars and taxis.
There's even a fruit & veg boat.

Did you know:

- That 1 ride in a gondola costs €100?
-That Vaporettoes only go in the big canals because they don't fit in the smaller ones?

Siena

We arrived in Siena and had a picnic in Piazza del Campo.

Then we went to the Duomo.

The floor was covered in figurative panels.

Then we went to a cafe and went back to a hotel in Florence.

Pisa

I went to Pisa on Sunday. My favourite building was the Baptistery because it was covered in heads. These are the heads on the Baptistery.

This is the whole Baptistery.

This is the Duomo (cathedral in Italian).

And finally here is the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Facades in Lucca

Facades are fascinating, especially on churches. They always catch your attention. This is San Michele. There are thousands of columns, all made of white, green and pink marble.

This is Saint Michael killing a serpent.

This is one of the columns.

This is a frieze on top of the door to San Michele. On it there is a dragon, a centaur and a two-tailed merman.

This is San Frediano. The mosaic is of Jesus Christ.

This is another little church which I don't know the name of.

The secret path

I am in Bagni in Lucca in Tuscany in Italy. We're here for two months and a half. I wanted to go exploring with my dad in the garden of Villa Fiori.

So me and my dad went to the garden of Villa Fiori and we found a big gap in the trees and we went through the gap and we found a path next to the river.

Along the path there was a little old house.

Inside the little old house there were a few electric wires. You could also go into the bottom of a little tower and then you would need to go up on to the pavement and go home.

Forest of gnomes

I went to a house in the country. They had chickens. One of them was called Kiwi. The other was called Hueca.

We went to a forest where there were lots of little doors and windows.

Me, Alice and Carmela played hide and seek in the bracken. I got bitten by a tick. Apparently you can get Lyme disease from them.
